Day One
Day one sets the stage with an overview of the HIPAA regulations and then continues with presentation of the specifics of the Privacy Rule, recent and expected changes to the rules, and the basics of the Security Rule.
Day Two
Day two begins with a detailed examination of HIPAA Security Rule requirements and what must be done to survive audits by the US Department of Health and Human Services, including an examination of how risk analysis is used to drive compliance by the systematic examination of information flows and mitigation of risks discovered. Finally, the day concludes with a session on the essential activities of documenting policies, procedures, and activities, training staff and managers in the issues and policies they need to know about, and examining compliance readiness through drills and self-audits.

Payment:
Payments to be made at least 2 days prior to the seminar by any of the above mentioned options.

Confirmation:
A letter of confirmation will be sent to you once payment is received. You must have this written confirmation to be considered enrolled for the event. Please allow 2 business days for receipt of confirmation letter. If you have submitted a purchase order or requested an invoice, please be advised that a credit card guarantee is needed. Please submit payment for the prevailing rate. Please be advised that if payment or written cancellation notice is not received by 6 business days prior to the seminar start date, your credit card will be charged the prevailing rate.

Attendee substitution:
If you are unable to attend, substitutions can be made at any time, including on site at the prevailing rate. However, it has to be confirmed in writing with proper identification of the substitute person you plan to send on your behalf. No show will be charged the complete amount.

Refund Policy:
A request for refund should be made in writing and faxed to 302 288 6884 or emailed to customersupport@globalcompliancepanel.com latest by 6 business days prior to the seminar start date, to receive a full refund minus $150 administrative fee. After that time, no refunds or credit requests will be approved. On-site registrants will not be guaranteed to receive conference materials until all advanced registered attendees receive them. The refund amount minus the administrative fee will be issued as an online voucher which can be redeemed for the same or any new seminar or webinars within the 12 months of the seminar start date.

Cancellation Policy:

Jim Sheldon-Dean is the founder and director of compliance services at Lewis Creek Systems, LLC, a Vermont-based consulting firm founded in 1982, providing information privacy and security regulatory compliance services to health care firms and businesses throughout the Northeast and nationally.

Sheldon-Dean's firm provides a variety of advisory, training, assessment, policy development, project management and mitigation services for a number of health care providers, businesses, universities, small and large hospitals, urban and rural mental health and social service agencies, health insurance plans and health care business associates.

He serves on the HIMSS Information Systems Security Workgroup, the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange Privacy and Security Workgroup, and co-chairs the WEDI HIPAA Updates sub-workgroup.

He is a frequent speaker regarding HIPAA and information privacy and security compliance issues at seminars and conferences, including speaking engagements at AHIMA national conventions and WEDI national conferences, and before the New York Metropolitan Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, Health Information Management Associations of New York City, New York State, and Vermont, the Connecticut Hospital Association, and the Hospital and Health System Association of Pennsylvania.

Sheldon-Dean has nearly 30 years of experience in policy analysis and implementation, business process analysis, information systems and software development.

His experience includes leading the development of health care related Web sites; award-winning, best-selling commercial utility software; and mission-critical, fault-tolerant communications satellite control systems.

In addition, he has eight years of experience doing hands-on medical work as a Vermont certified volunteer emergency medical technician. Sheldon-Dean received his B.S. degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Vermont and his master�s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
